Community Giving – Amherst

ANNOUNCEMENT – COMMUNITY GIVING – AMHERST, NS

We are very pleased to announce that our Amherst staff has again shown their support of their community by raising $4829.86 through numerous in-branch fundraising events held throughout the past year. Each year the Amherst Branch staff chooses 3 or 4 charities to support in their fundraising activities. In 2012 those charities were: Bridge Workshop, Special Olympics, Cumberland County Early Intervention and Christmas for Kids.

On Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 the Amherst staff presented cheques in the amount of $1,076.63 each to the Bridge Workshop, Special Olympics and Cumberland County Early Intervention. The Christmas for Kids donation was $1600.00 as well as 64 individual gifts for children throughout the community and another $250 spent on a variety of other gifts for children in need.

This was the first year the Amherst Branch was an advertized location with a dedicated Christmas tree for the Christmas for Kids campaign. And because of the generosity and commitment of our staff and members this campaign was a huge success. There was only one other business in the Amherst community that donated more than Community Credit Union – Amherst Branch. Remarkable for their first year!

The involvement by our Amherst staff to support such worthwhile community organizations is a testament to our employees’ commitment to our youth and communities. “Needless to say I am extremely proud of the staff for all of their efforts”, said Laura Hicks, Amherst Branch Manager. “We sold raffle tickets, held barbeques, and held a bowling fund-raiser – all of the staff participated by giving of their time and money but I especially need to mention Terri McKillop for her efforts – she is a natural when it comes to fundraising”.

This is a true example of “the Credit Union way”- staff who has given time and money to give back to the community. We believe that partnerships such as this will significantly benefit our youth and our communities in which we live and work.

Sincerely,

DJ (Darrell) Kuhn
President & CEO
